Cleaning Day

So, I don't know if any of you noticed, or if anyone still reads this, but yesterday, I posted a Tasty Thursday article, and even tagged it as Tasty Thursday.  Why?  Because I thought it was Thursday.  Why?  Because my apartment was clean.  Come on, that totally makes sense.

We're getting closer and closer to a possible close date.  We have one more thing (hopefully just this one) to hear back from the bank, and then they think it could be a week and a half until close.  Once we close, I want to spend all my free time at the new house: cleaning, painting, fixing, and more cleaning.  I don't want to have to deal with stuff here at the apartment except for putting stuff in boxes.  But I also want the apartment ready and nice for the next tenants.

So, one of my huge projects recently has been to deep clean every room.  I started with the front entryway, which only took a few hours.  I moved everything, vacuumed under everything, wiped everything off, cleaned the walls, and organized everything.  A few days later, I tackled the hall, running from the entryway to the end of the apartment.  This took a full work day, because we have a little catch-all shelf that is full of stuff.  But I moved everything and cleaned and organized everything again.

It took me a while to get the guts to tackle the bedroom, because it's so much bigger than the hallway (duh). But I finally got in there, and moved (almost) everything.  Seriously, I moved the mattress and the box spring (mostly by myself!) to get at the rolls of dust under the bed.  And like 25 dead tissues.  And several writing utensils.  And 3 guitar picks and 5 bobby pins.  And 12 dead ladybugs.  It was a very long day, but I finally got through the whole bedroom except the bookshelf and the closet.  (I need Caleb to do those with me.)

Finally, all that was left was the kitchen and the living room (and the bathroom, but that doesn't really need deep cleaning, since I clean it fairly regularly).  I was having a hard time getting motivated, though, because they're both such big projects.  So on Tuesday, my dear mommy came and helped me.  I thought we'd get through one room, since the other big room took me 7-8 hours.  We had 5 hours, and we had to eat lunch, too, so I was hopeful to get one room done.

Instead, we knocked out both rooms!  What a blessing!  Everything looks amazing and I swear the sink is glowing, it's so clean!  We donated a bunch of canned food items we were never going to use, so I had all sorts of new cupboard space to use.  It was very exciting!

And that's why Wednesday felt like Thursday.  We got so much done that it felt like it had to be later in the week to have that much accomplished.  I felt like I gained a day!  (And yesterday, I was able to spend most of the day working on Christmas gifts!)

And I am so ready to move!  Come on, bank!!!

Love and Soft Scrub,
Leah Joy

We have been mixed up on our days this week too, since Monday was a no-school day.
